Brief History of Michael Heymann

Born and raised in Tel-Aviv, Israel, Michael graduated from a private High School and served the mandatory three years in the Israeli Defense Forces.  After an honorable release from IDF, Michael started a career with El-Al Israel airlines in airport operations.  After five years with El-Al, reaching the level of Ramp Supervisor at Tel-Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport, Michael took advantage of an employee reduction program and left the company and Israel to the US in July 1981.

Michael started flying at age 17 with the Israeli Air Force (ROTC-like) program in High School.  He was accepted to the Israeli Air Force Academy and trained to become an Air Force pilot.  Michael left the academy after an injury during survival training.  While working at operations at El-Al and on his first trip to the US, Michael procured his Private Pilot License.  Upon returning to Israel, Michael took additional flight training and received his Israeli Private Pilot License.  In late 1980 Michael took a leave of absence from El-Al and came to Fort Worth, Texas to get his Commercial Pilot License, which he achieved in April 1981.  Michael returned to Israel and to El-Al, but was back in Fort Worth the same year after the separation from El-Al.  Upon returning to Fort Worth, Michael got his Flight Instructor License in anticipation of a career as an airline pilot.

The turmoil in the airline industry in the early 1980’s brought pilot hiring to a halt and Michael enrolled in college to obtain an undergraduate degree to improve his chances of being hired by an airline.  While at school, Michael met his wife, Mary and got married in early 1984.  Michael’s grades, his GMAT scores, a full scholarship from TCU, and his new marriage helped Michael decide upon a career change and pursue his MBA.  In four and a half years Michael went from taking his first college class to earning an MBA degree from a top Texas school, and always near the top of his class.

Michael and Mary still live in West Fort Worth in the home they purchased more then 20 years ago.  Mary has a successful practice in Fort Worth, anchoring them to North Texas.  Michael’s career, following the attainment of his MBA, is chronicled on his resume.
